As we embark on a respectful honouring of our nation, We acknowledge:

Oh Canada Singer

Elaine Thaller is a singer from Saskatoon. Her passion for music blossomed at an early age and has remained a constant presence in her life. Her talents have been showcased in numerous musicals for Saskatoon Summer Players and Ppl r Ppl, as well as through her performances with groups such as the Saskatoon Fireside Singers, the Greystone Singers, and Saskatoon Chamber Singers, with whom she still sings. Elaine lived in Toronto for almost fifteen years, where she discovered her passion for Renaissance music, and sang with a trio called Skylark that opened for Bob Newhart. Last year, she was honoured to lend her musical comedy talents at the gala opening concert of Grosvenor Park United Church. During the day, Elaine works at Dance Saskatchewan Inc, where she is discovering a love of dance to complement her love of music!

A Statement of Rationale and Intention for Canada Day
Consistent with the Truth and Reconciliation Recommendations and in particular Recommendations that support and encourage us to adopt and advance the (#43) full implementation of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples as the framework for reconciliation. And with an aim to walk forward together in the spirit of reconciliation.
We acknowledge:
Inspired by the call to (#79.ii) revise the policies, criteria, and practices of the National Program of Historical Commemoration to integrate Indigenous history, heritage values, and memory practices into Canada’s national heritage and history.
Encouraged by the call to (#94) faithfully bear true allegiance to His Majesty King Charles III, His Heirs and Successors, and faithfully observe the laws of Canada including Treaties with Indigenous Peoples and fulfill our duties as a Canadian citizen.
This respectful honouring is being designed and developed to include:
- Active involvement of Elders and Knowledge Keepers
- Educational elements surrounding our acknowledgements noted
- Indigenous Cultural Practices (Blessing; Story Telling; Dance and Song)
- Celebration of Achievements of Canadians
- Cultural presentations of song, dance, art and history
- Bringing our community together with an aim to advancing understanding, acceptance and to walk forward together in a spirit of reconciliation
- Traditional Fireworks Show
- Festivities which will occur throughout the day on July 1st.
